Frequently Asked Questions regarding the labor walkout at Los Angeles and Long Beach ports
(Updated 07 Dec 12, 1230 PST)

1. Q: How long will the work stoppage last?
A: Work resumed Dec 5th at 0800 PST.

2. Q: What is OOCL’s contingency plan?  Are you diverting ships to alternative Ports?
A: At this time only the following two vessel voyages have been diverted.
        1. The Dallas Express 069W PAX service has been diverted to Ensenada (ESE), Mexico and
approximately 100 OOCL Los Angeles import containers were discharged.  The discharged
containers will be loaded on the NYK Rosa (ETA ESE is Dec 6th) for transport back to Los
Angeles (ETA LAS is Dec 10th).
        2. The Pusan 004E PAX service has bypassed Los Angeles and sailed to Manzanillo,
Panama, where the Los Angeles import containers will be discharged and reloaded on the
Rotterdam Express sailing on Dec 14th.  (ETA LAS is Dec 21st).

Q: Why have no other vessels been diverted?
A: Ships that are diverted will lose their place in line for gang ordering at the ports of Los Angeles and
Long Beach once the strike is over, and which will only serve to put the vessels and cargo availability
further behind schedule after work resumes.

Q: Will force majeure be applied?
A: Up to this date OOCL has declared force majure on the Dallas Express 069W only.  Customers
with cargo on this vessel have been notified.

3. Q: How will OOCL apply demurrage & detention during and after the work stoppage?
A: Demurrage and detention free time has been extended for the duration of the work stoppage.  Import
free time has been further extended through Friday, Dec 7th.

4. Q: Will OOCL continue to accept bookings with origin in the US?
A: Yes, normal cargo booking acceptance is in place.

5. Q: Will I be subject to any additional extra costs apply to my existing rates?
A: As long as there is no change to the original shipment route your existing valid rate would apply.

6. Q: Where do I go to get information about my impacted shipments/containers?
A: We are providing updates as follows:
        1. Customers with impacted shipments are being notified directly via email on a vessel/voyage basis
advising shipment and container specific information.
        2. New information and updates are being posted to the USA oocl.com Local News site.

7. Q: What are the revised ETA’s of the ships carrying my shipments?
A: Impacted vessel voyage status and schedules will be posted to the USA oocl.com Local News site
and also in the file below.

Q: Where can I check this information?
A: The best known information will continue to be posted to the USA oocl.com Local News.  The
interactive sailing schedule at www.oocl.com will be updated once port
operations resume after the work stoppage ends.

8. Q: Will there be extra gate hours now that the terminals have reopened?
A: Yes, see the Excel file below.

9. Q: What delays might I expect on my Intermodal cargo?
    A: See below:
        1. BNSF has prestaged bare, empty rail cars in Southern California for Intermodal rail departure
               from the marine terminals.
        2. BNSF has 13 westbound on-dock trains to deliver to marine terminals staged within 48 hours of
            Southern California.
        3. Trains moving to Southern Califonia will be moved slowly and are subject to transit delays as the
BNSF meters the train flow to match the capacity of on-dock marine terminals.  Customers should
            expect congestion related delays.

Q: What is the BNSF Southern California Rail Operations Service Recovery Plan?
A: See the Excel file below.
