OOCL Adopts a California Highway



Since 1989, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has given the public an opportunity to donate materials, equipment and services for highway maintenance or enhancement.  Adoption opportunities include litter removal, graffiti removal, vegetation control, tree and wildflower planting. In addition to aesthetic benefits of cleaner and more beautiful highways, participants help to prevent potential pollutants from entering our waterways.  Cleaner highways make safer highways, and they also promote civic responsibility and community pride.

OOCL is proud to adopt a half-mile stretch of Highway 880, one of the busiest container traffic highways in California.  Highway 880 also runs parallel to the Port of Oakland.  As part of our corporate ‘Green Initiative’ and community service, our company has committed to sponsor landscape maintenance for two years, helping to keep the trees green, the highway clean, and California beautiful.
