CHI & OBK Colleagues Volunteer for the Holidays

Last month, Chicago & Oakbrook colleagues, along with friends and family, supported the Basket Brigade to help the less fortunate in their community.

The Chicago chapter of Basket Brigade brings people together who recognize the beauty of viewing the world as our team - and who share a desire to help others - knowing the gift is in the giving.

Volunteers carefully wrapped baskets filled with food, hope and love – providing holiday dinner for 518 families! These gifts will feed their bodies and nourish their spirits, letting them know that others care for them. Volunteers drove all over the city of Chicago, delivering the baskets to the actual homes of the families until dusk.

In addition our OOCL Chicago office helped their community this year, especially during the Holidays, by supporting the ‘Lambs Farm Foundation’ in Illinois.

The Lambs Farm Foundation started as a small pet shop in Chicago and, with the generous support of donors and volunteers, has grown into a 72-acre campus serving more than 250 men and women every year. The organization teaches the value of hard work and gives people with developmental disabilities the opportunity to make a contribution to society and to live as independently as possible.

The OOCL Chicago office sponsored five individuals supported by the Lambs Farm Foundation. They provided a list of basic things they needed for winter such as coats, hats, gloves, etc. and with the help of our employees, received what they needed to stay warm this season.
