Bangladesh Inbound Documentation Requirement

Effective immediately for all Inbound shipments to Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bank and Bangladesh Customs will require the Business Identification Number (BIN) or the Agent Identification Number (AIN), as appropriate, to be provided on all shipping documents including the ocean carrier’s Bill of Lading (B/L).  Failure to provide the required BIN or the AIN will result in containers being unable to discharge in Bangladesh with all incurred charges to account of the shipper.

Please ensure to include the Freight Forwarder’s AIN or the Importer's BIN when submitting the Booking Request and Shipping Instructions to OOCL for all export shipments to Bangladesh  to comply with Bangladesh Bank and Bangladesh Customs Circular.

In case of Freight Forwarder – Carrier Bill of Lading (B/L) to be issued as follows:
Consignee = Freight Forwarder Name and Address
Notify Party = Freight Forwarder Name and Address
Freight Forwarder’s AIN must be mentioned in B/L image.

In case of direct B/L, no Freight Forwarder involved shipment – Carrier B/L to be issued as follows (this is a change to present practice):
Consignee = Actual Importer Name and Address
Notify Party = Bank Name and Address
Actual Importer’s BIN must be mentioned in B/L image.

For additional information please refer to the original circulars from the Bangladesh Bank (Central Bank) and Bangladesh Customs:
