China Waste and Scrap Imports
Customer Advisory: Regulatory changes for Waste and Scrap Imports to China
We would like to bring to your attention to the regulatory updates for waste and scrap imports to China.
Authorities in China announced that:
- Effective December 31, 2019, 16 kinds of solid waste including wood scrap, waste cork, waste stainless steel, and other metal and metal-alloy wastes will be banned to import to China and have been classified as Solid Wastes Forbidden to Import in China.
- This is in addition to the previous kinds of solid wastes that were banned to import to China in 2017 and 2018.
To ensure full compliance with the regulatory requirements, customers are strongly recommended to check with official sources to see if the new import regulations apply. Customers are required to obtain valid license(s) or permit(s) and provide accurate cargo names as well as all necessary information to OOCL at the time of booking.
OOCL will NOT accept cargoes that area listed on the table below from October 15, 2019 onwards.
