Halifax and Montreal Congestion
Halifax and Montreal Congestion
September 25, 2020

Although steady progress continues to be made, excessive dwell times are ongoing at the port of Monreal and Halifax.

OOCL is exhausting all available options and working with our vendor partners to expedite any remaining on dock cargo.  As noted, progress continues, and in our review of the volume of cargo that was affected, on a week over week comparison, we have seen a 20% decrease on the loads remaining in Halifax and 78% for Montreal.

Rest assured OOCL maintains continual dialogue with marine terminals and railroads to address the evacuation backlog.

We would note that, on cargoes out of Halifax to Montreal and Toronto, there has been a temporary suspension of rail service, regular operations should resume in the next 48 hours.

For more information on gate hours, and specific details on average inbound dwell times, terminal operations, please contact the respective terminals directly:

If you have questions about your specific shipment, please reach out to our inbound customer service team at the below number.  Alternatively, OOCL shipments can also be traced online via our site or utilizing My OOCL Center (MOC).

We appreciate your continued support and patience during this time.
