U.S. Railroads Labor Negotiations: Update as of September 14, 2022

​​Further to our earlier notification, labor negotiations are still in progress between the U.S. rail carriers and the labor unions.

As the situation remains fluid, rail vendors are adjusting their services in the event negotiations are not successful.  Below are the updates as of Wednesday, September 14th:

 

BNSF Ingate Restrictions

Effective 12:01 am on Friday, September 16, BNSF will close all in-gates for loaded or empty intermodal units in these respective facilities:

  1. Cicero, Corwith, Memphis, Seattle International Gateway (SIG) and South Seattle Intermodal Facilities.

 

Canadian National Railway (CN) Ingate Restrictions

Effective September 16, loading of cargo to US destinations via CN rail will be suspended until further notice.

 

Canadian Pacific Rail (CP) Ingate Restrictions

Effective immediately, loading of cargo to US destinations via CP rail will be suspended until further notice.

 

New CSX Ingate Restrictions

Effective 03:00 pm on Thursday, September 15, in-gates for export loads from SC Inland Port/Dillon facility will be closed.

 

Updated Norfolk Southern (NS) Ingate Restrictions

Effective 03:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in-gates for export loads from SC Inland Port/ Greer facility will be closed.

Effective 05:00 pm on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, Norfolk Southern will close all gates to Intermodal traffic, with the details noted below:

  1. In-gates for loaded or empty intermodal units for rail movement will close at all NS Intermodal terminals.
  2. Traffic originating at on-dock port facilities and privately owned intermodal terminals will not be accepted.
  3. Until further notice, out-gates will remain open at all NS Intermodal terminals during normal business hours for customers to pick up units.
