Potential Work Disruptions
Potential Work Disruptions
September 23, 2024

Dear Valued Customer,

As you may be aware, the contract between the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance Ltd (USMX) expires on September 30th. If no agreement is reached by this time, work disruption impacting the US East Coast and Gulf ports may be possible.

Due to this pending situation, please note the following:

Import Cargo: We encourage you to pick up your import cargo prior to September 30, 2024. Terminals and Ports are advising that if a work stoppage does occur, that cargoes will not be accessible, and reefer containers may not be monitored while the port is closed.

Export Cargo: Due to the uncertainty of the current labor situation, schedule changes and service disruptions are expected. Prior to empty pick up for your booking, please check with the receiving location to verify any restrictions that could impact your shipment.  Note: There may be additional booking and receiving restrictions for reefer and dangerous goods cargoes.

OOCL continues to closely monitor the situation and will provide updates when more information becomes available.

For questions regarding your specific shipment, please contact our local customer service representatives.

For more information on the labor situation, please refer to USMX-ILA Negotiations Updates
USMX-ILA Negotiations Updates | USMX.

We appreciate your business.
