OOCL Provides Dangerous Goods Placarding Reference on Booking Acknowledgement!

As OOCL’s extended effort to promote the safe transport of dangerous goods (DG), and to better support OOCL DG Shippers who are required to comply with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) set out by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), DG placarding reference material is now added to the Booking Acknowledgement of DG shipments.

For EACH type of DG commodity booked, a web path will be added to the Booking Acknowledgement which brings our customers to a pdf file of placarding, marks and signs requirements, plus instructions on how to affix them to the cargo transport unit as stipulated in the relevant regulatory publications.

Here is an example:

Proper Shipping Name: CHROMIUM TRIOXIDE, ANHYDROUS
IMO Class 5.1
UN Number 1463
Subsidiary Risks 6.1 and 8

Immediately after the DG booking details, a web path follows which leads to a pdf file with the corresponding placarding reference.

For DG shipments that will be transported via US intermodal, the associated placarding information will also be displayed for ease of reference.

At OOCL, we make safety and security a top priority in our business operations.  Please visit our corporate pages for details:
