We would like to briefly update you on the current state of negotiations between the ILA Union and the USMX (employers organization), and as you can read from below news clippings the near term outlook is not positive and we are most likely heading to a nationwide strike in the US, impacting the US East Coast and Gulf Ports.

Currently, ocean freight rates continue to be below the required level to cover operating costs on our North Europe to Asia Trade. Considering that the current levels are unsustainable for the long term, we are announcing a General Rate Increase (GRI) which will be applied to all cargo loading on or after October 1.

This is to advise that effective October 1st, 2012 a Port Congestion Surcharge will be levied on all shipments originating or destined to the United States as follows in the event of a slowdown or work stoppage at any US Port(s).
