Regarding declaration of HS Code in B/L and Commodity Code in manifest

From 20 October 2013, all inbound cargo to Bangladesh must mention commodity code (first 2 digit of commodity code) as per customs provided commodity code list published in Bangladesh. Customs Website http://customs.gov.bd/portal/documents.jsf.


Also to mention correct HS Code (8 Digit) in import B/L description for all  L/C involved cargo which is already in effect per local Customs from Oct. 20, 2013. In this regard customs already circulated to Central Bank of Bangladesh to follow.

Without Commodity Code cargo cannot be declared in Bangladesh, and without HS Code mentioned in Import B/L for L/C shipments only, Consignee will face problem on cargo clearance from customs.
