1. General Information

OOCL's Baltic feeder network covers 5 terminals at St. Petersburg and 1 terminal at Ust' Luga.

Russian South area covers 1 terminal at NUTEP, set up in Novorossiysk.

 

First Container Terminal

The first dedicated container terminal in the Leningrad Trading Seaport was established in December, 1973. Over the period of 35 years from this date container transportation has acquired priority significance in the international cargo handling market, and FCT became the largest terminal of the Seaport of Saint-Petersburg. In October, 1998 ZAO "First Container Terminal" (FCT) was founded as a stevedoring company specialized in container handling to operate and develop the container terminal in the 3rd cargo district of the Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg. FCT is a part of the Global Ports group (www.globalports.com).

Terminal facilities:

  • Total area - 89 ha

  • Yard storage capacity - 28,700 TEU
  • Reefer storage capacity – 2,905 plugs

    The terminal is equipped with modern efficient handling equipment:
  • 7 STS Panamax cranes (Konecranes) with lifting capacity up to 50 tons
  • 1 mobile crane (Liebherr) with lifting capacity 104 tons
  • 3 RMG cranes (Baltkran) with lifting capacity up to 45 tons
  • 12 RTG cranes (Kalmar, Konecranes) with lifting capacity up to 50 tons
  • 29 Straddle Carriers
  • 16 reach stackers and forklifts
  • The fleet of reachstackers, empty-handlers, terminal tractors

    FAQ about OOG handling at FCT (SSB01):

    1.   OH, OW & OL accepted to handle safely: Max length of OOG cargo should not exceed 14 m. OH is 2.4 m in case of discharging by special frame.

    2.  In case of discharging by chains, max height is depended on Gate dimensions. There are restrictions on a port gate: Gate height – 5.6m. Gate width for entrance: 3.5m, for exit: 6.95 m.

    3.   Not working with BBK cargo.

    4.   Acceptance for OOG cargo should be checked with TML each time before booking creation.

Sea Fishing Port is a modern port complex, located in the Kirov district of St. Petersburg. The company provides a full range of services for handling, storage and movement of goods. The assets of the port 3 specialized terminal for handling rolling machinery, general and containerized cargo.

  • Total area - 24 ha
  • Quay length (operational) – 670 m
  • Depth alongside berth - 10,1 m
  • Number of berths – 6

Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg

The Port is located in the Neva Bay, in the Eastern part of the Gulf of Finland, in the Baltic Sea. The port has the following geographical coordinates: 59°54' N., 30°15'

Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg is open for vessels all the year round. Loading/unloading is carried out 24 hours a day. In winter ice conditions vessels are piloted by icebreakers.

Berths and Sea Channel

The Port is connected to the sea by the Sea Channel with the length of 27 miles. The channel is 85 m wide in its narrowest part. The channel has a minimum depth of -11,6 m. The Main Channel leading from the open sea to the basin of the Coal Harbor is 80-120 m wide, with the permitted vessel draught of 11.0 m. The port of Saint-Petersburg can accept vessels with the following maximum dimensions:

  • Total length – 304 m
  • Width – 40.5 m
  • Max draught – 11.0 m
  • Total area - 65,7 ha
  • Yard capacity – 25 415 TEU
  • 6 quays with total length of 1 161 m
  • 4 dedicated container quays, length– 787,2 m
  • Reefer plugs – 2 240

 

Services rendered by the Container Terminal:

  • Loading/discharge of all types of containers onto/from vessel;
  • Loading/discharge of all types of containers onto/from rail cars;
  • Storage of containers, including refrigerated containers;
  • Transportation of containers for customs and/or veterinary inspection;
  • Pre-trip inspection and weighing of containers;
  • Electronic data interchange in compliance with EDIFACT;
  • 24/7 security;

At present 500 000 TEU annually may be qualitatively and rapidly handled at the terminal:

  • 2 quays with the total length of 478 m and the depth alongside berth up to 11,5 m;
  • 4 ship-to-shore cranes with the lifting capacity of 50 tons;
  • container yard capacity - 14364 TEU;
  • reefer storage capacity - 1150 plugs;
  • length of rail loading area - 1870 m;

JSC PETROLESPORT is conveniently located to ensure the ongoing interaction of marine, river, automotive and railway transport modes. The Port is situated on the islands Goutouevsky, Volniy, Gladkiy and Grebenka in St.Petersburg's water area. Port geographic coordinates are: - 59°53' N., 30°14' E.

The Terminal is well equipped with all necessary infrastructure and machinery: 13 quays with total length 2201.1m, modern cranes and handling equipment of the best manufacturers, open and covered storage facilities, own railway tracks with total length of 11 km, two separate truck gates for container trucks (4-lane) and general cargo trucks (3-lane), video surveillance system and a state-of-the-art electronic Container Terminal Control System designed by CosMos N.V. (Belgium).To handle both export and import cargoes, the main storage facilities of JSC PETROLESPORT are granted the customs status of 'bonded warehouse' ('SVH' by official terminology), or 'permanent customs control zone' ( 'PZTK'). Ust' - Luga Container Terminal (ULCT)

ULCT is the first Russia's greenfield container terminal developed in the deep sea port. At full development ULCT will be the largest and the most technologically advanced facility in Russia and Eastern Europe with depth alongside up to 16 m and throughput capacity of 2.6 M TEU.

ULCT container terminal is located in the large multi-purpose Ust-Luga port cluster on the Baltic Sea, approximately 100 km westwards from the St. Petersburg city ring road. Operations started in December 2011 ULCT is a part of the Global Ports group (www.globalports.com)

Multipurpose Sea Cargo Complex (MSCC) Bronka is the only deep-water sea terminal in the Big port of St. Petersburg – the depth of the approach channel and the water area is 14.4 m. Port Bronka has an advantageous location, the length of the approach sea channel is only 13 nautical miles (from the receiving buoy), close to the railway station Bronka, which is connected to the port by 1.2 km railway, and at the junction with the Circular motorway (KAD). The transshipment complex is located in the South-West of St. Petersburg, outside the city limits.

The current capacity of MSCC Bronka is 500 000 TEU and 130 000 units of ro-ro cargo per year. The further development plan includes an increase in the container cargo capacity to 1.9 million TEU per year and ro-ro cargo – up to 200 000 units per year. After the completion of the projects for the development of railway and warehouse infrastructure total capacity of cargo transshipment will be 25 mln. tonnes by 2025.

The deepest berth in the South of Russia was commissioned in 2019:

The railway park was built in 2013 and is owned by NUTEP, which gives the company a competitive advantage in access and control over the proper condition of the tracks.

NUTEP has direct access from Sukhumskoe highway (with direct access to the federal highway M-4 "Don"). A through one-way traffic was organized at the terminal. Entry and exit to the territory are separated to optimize logistics.

The terminal has an electronic booking system of check-in time, which allows regulating traffic, avoiding traffic jams at the terminal, and alleviating the load on the city's road network during rush hours.

 

NUTEP terminal is equipped with modern equipment from leading world manufacturers, which makes it possible to carry out loading and unloading operations efficiently and quickly.
