Submission of Dangerous Goods Notes

OOCL is committed to the safe carriage of Dangerous Goods and full compliance with statutory DG legislation without exception.

Over the coming months we will be be contacting all customers who regularly ship hazardous cargo to introduce them to our online Shipment Folder, to which DGNs can be uploaded for verification prior to shipment. It is our intention that from 1st January 2010 this will be the only method by which we will accept completed DGNs.

Key Benefits of My OOCL Center's Shipment Folder:

  • DGNs can be accessed by all shipment parties globally
  • Full audit trail, including confirmation of receipt and acceptance by OOCL
  • Eliminate the risk of lost documents

A quick user guide for customers who are already registered and wish to use this facility in advance of the 1st January 2010 cutoff can be downloaded HERE

We would like to take this opportunity to also remind customers that Amendment 34 of the IMDG Code comes into force on 1st January. Chapter 5.4 details the information that is required on the Dangerous Goods Transport Document. Shippers must conform to these regulations with no exception.

  • Shippers may use a Multimodal Dangerous Goods Form as stipulated in the IMDG Code, or an alternative like the SITPRO style Dangerous Goods Note (DGN) document which is in common use within the UK.
  • It is the Shipper's responsibility to ensure that the declaration, packing of cargo & completion of the DG paperwork is correct - not the carrier.

Please see our most recent Notice re Amendment 34  for further details.
