Export Bookings

Dear Customers,

OOCL has recently experienced an increasing volume of bookings being made without provision of a UCR. As a result, a number of containers were short-shipped, despite numerous attempts by OOCL to obtain this reference by the required deadline. We have therefore taken the decision to amend our booking policy effective Tuesday 6th April, when bookings will not be accepted unless a UCR is provided. Customers are asked to ensure that this critical reference is given to us when the booking is made.

Furthermore, some recent shipments were delayed because the container number declared on the Shipping Instruction (SI) did not correspond to the container that was actually loaded. To reduce the chance of this happening again we will no longer accept Carrier Haulage with a collection date/time after the vessel's SI cutoff. This will reduce the chance of container number discrepancies at the time of manifest submission to the relevant customs authority for regulatory compliance.

Both these changes are being introduced to improve the overall quality of OOCL's service as they will reduce the opportunity for customs holds and associated short-shipment.

We thank customers for their understanding and support of the above. Should you require further information, please contact your local Customer Service Centre or Area Sales Manager.
