Snow Disruption

As you are no doubt aware we have had a significant amount of snow across the whole country, with further heavy snow forecast. The port, rail, depot and road network has really suffered, with many locations and main routes closed or restricted. As of this morning the situation was as follows:-

Terminals
Southampton - shipside and landside closed
Thamesport - shipside closed - possible landside opening mid-morning
Liverpool - intermittent working
Felixstowe - shipside and landside closed

Railheads
Manchester and Leeds - closed
Daventry, Birmingham, Coatbridge and Cardiff - open but with very slow working

Depots
Southampton (Pentalver) and Liverpool - closed
Manchester - restricted operations

Transport Movements
A large portion of our haulage resource is stuck; vehicles are unable to interchange containers as there is very little moving due to the above conditions.

Office Coverage

Our business recovery plan has been invoked. All managers have been working to co-ordinate their staff and our response to the conditions, and this will continue whilst the situation persists. Investment in remote computer access for key staff has meant they have been able to continue with core business if they have been unable to get in to the office, or if they have had to leave the office early as happened yesterday in Levington.

How to Contact Us
Given that staff may be working from home, we encourage all customers to contact us by email using the functional addresses published on our UK website. (Click here to view Local Contacts). This will give us the best chance of meeting your needs and responding to you promptly.

We also recommend customers use our various electronic products available through the website to check things like vessel status, rates of exchange etc.

We hope this update has been helpful, and we will keep you informed as and when service issues arise and should the weather and transportation issues continue into the days ahead. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult period.
