December
OOIL was selected for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia/Pacific Index again, effective from December 18.
OOCL launched two new China Indonesia Philippines Services, CIP1 and CIP2, in its Intra-Asia network. CIP1 and CIP2 establish direct connections among multiple ports in China, Indonesia, Philippines, and Singapore, providing customers with competitive and reliable shipment options.
OOCL announced a new Japan Philippines Service (KTX4) connecting multiple ports in Japan with Philippines to cater for the demand in the market. Together with existing KTX suite services, OOCL could provide a more comprehensive service coverage between Japan, Taiwan region, Hong Kong and South China region and ASEAN countries.

On October 26, OOCL received the “Elite Enterprise Partnership Award 2023” from Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department in recognition of the company’s proactive co-operation and contribution to Customs.
OOCL was awarded with a Certificate of Merit from United States Coast Guard (USCG) on October 18 in recognition of its contribution to maritime safety by supporting the Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER) in the previous year. By supporting this voluntary system, OOCL’s vessels contribute to the rescue efforts in case of an emergency at sea, as well as set an example of cooperation and mutual assistance among seafarers.
On October 11, OOCL’s sixth 24,188 TEU newbuilding was named “OOCL Gdynia” at Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) shipyard. OOCL was honored to have Mr. Takashi Yanai, the Corporate Officer as well as the General Manager of Logistics Infrastructure Business Division of Sumitomo Corporation as the guest of honor of the ceremony and Mrs. Yoshiko Yanai, mother of Mr. Takashi Yanai, as the vessel sponsor to name and bless the new vessel.
OOCL introduced two new China Cambodia Thailand Service (CCT1 and CCT2) to further strengthen its Intra-Asia service network by connecting China, Cambodia and Thailand.

OOCL was honored to be recognized as the “Best Shipping Line – Intra-Asia” at the 2023 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards’ ceremony held at the JW Marriot Hotel Singapore South Beach on September 28. Hosted by leading shipping and logistics publication Asia Cargo News, the annual AFLAS Awards is one of the most anticipated industry events in the Asia Pacific region. OOCL received the same award again after 2021, demonstrating the company's ability to maintain high-quality services in an ever-changing environment.
OOCL launched a new tool “Emission Monitor” to monitor its emission performance. Emission Monitor is designed to instantly consolidate the emission information and closely monitor the emission performance of the company’s vessels and end-to-end shipment operation to ensure compliance with IMO CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator) and progress towards decarbonization. To support OOCL’s customers to achieve their sustainability goals and decarbonization targets, the Emission Monitor has been extended to serve customers with visibility on real-time calculation of CO2 emission for all confirmed bookings.
On September 6, OOCL was delighted to welcome another new mega containership into its fleet, “OOCL Zeebrugge” , the fifth eco-friendly 24,188 TEU vessel in a series of twelve. The vessel was named by Ms. SHI Lei, Deputy General Manager of SUMEC Corporation Limited and Chairwoman of SUMEC Machinery & Electric Co., Ltd, at a ceremony held at the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) shipyard, in the presence of a number of distinguished guests, including customers and business partners.
OOCL completed the first biofuel bunkering in its fleet. The fuel delivery, arranged by supplier KPI OceanConnect’s team in Singapore and supplied by barge, was received by OOCL’s container vessel while at port in Singapore. The B24 biofuel delivered was a blend of Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester (UCOME) and Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO).

On August 18, OOIL announced a profit attributable to equity holders of US$1,128.7 million for the six-month period ended June 30, 2023, compared to a profit of US$5,663.6 million for the same period in 2022.
OOCL was pleased to further strengthen the company’s fleet structure by introducing one more 24,188 TEU mega vessel. The brand new container vessel is named “OOCL Felixstowe” by Ms. HE Lijun on August 8 at the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) shipyard.
OOCL announced a new service, Türkiye Spain Morocco Express (TSM), in its Intra-European Network which would further enhance OOCL’s Intra-European service offered to customers. TSM provides a direct connection between Greece, Türkiye, Spain, and Morocco along with a transshipment connection at our Mediterranean hub of Piraeus.

OOCL was pleased to announce a new service in the Europe – East Coast South America network to further enhance OOCL’s network coverage in Latin America. With an attractive transit time of only 16 days from Rio De Janeiro to Rotterdam, the new service Europe East Coast South America Express (EEX) was designed to meet the refrigerated container demand from East Coast South America to Europe.

OOIL was listed in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) 2023 and has been awarded the ranking of “Top 1% S&P Global ESG Score (Chinese Corporate)” in the transportation and infrastructure category, which means OOIL’s ESG score is within 1% of the industry's highest score. This was the first time that S&P Global has published a China edition of its Sustainability Yearbook, the inclusion in the S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook (China Edition) 2023 is clear and valuable recognition of OOIL’s outstanding performance in environmental, social, and governance practices and in ESG disclosures.
OOCL introduced the new China Indonesia Service 2 (CIS2) to strengthen OOCL’s China to Indonesia service network. To supplement CIS, CIS2 could further enhance the network coverage between China, Indonesia and Philippines, providing customers with competitive and reliable shipment options.
On June 6, OOCL welcomed its third 24,188 TEU vessel “OOCL Turkiye” at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) shipyard. OOCL invited Ms. Jane LIU, Chairwoman at SaiLun Group Co., Ltd. to name the new vessel at the ceremony.

On May 30, OOCL welcomed its second brand new 24,188 TEU vessel in a series of twelve. The mega containership was named as “OOCL Piraeus” by Ms. FANG Xue Yu, Executive Vice President of Hisense International Co., Ltd. and become the first of six 24,188 TEU vessels ordered by OOCL and to be delivered by Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) shipyard. This series of green and smart mega vessels would provide OOCL with the advantages of economies of scale, energy efficiency and long-term navigational safety.
OOCL received the Award for Outstanding Performance in Port State Control (PSC) Inspection for the year of 2022 from the Hong Kong Marine Department on May 2. OOCL was proud to be receiving this award for the fifth time. It was an important recognition of the company’s capabilities in managing an outstanding international fleet, demonstrating the company’s commitment to achieving high standards as a quality carrier.

On April 24, OOCL Logistics joined forces with OOCL to hold a signing ceremony of a new strategic partnership with Sailun Group Co. Ltd. (‘Sailun Group’). As part of the collaboration arrangements, OOCL Logistics offers an efficient package of International Supply Chain Management Service (ISCMS) solutions. With the support of OOCL Logistics’ proprietary system - PODIUM®, Sailun Group would be able to enhance its operational efficiency, while simultaneously improving its supply chain visibility and its control over shipments as they progress from multiple origins to ultimate destinations. On the same day, OOCL also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sailun Group. Considering the nature of Sailun Group's global trade, OOCL teamed up with OOCL Logistics and jointly developed the Sailun Triangle Plan, aiming to reduce logistics cost and improve overall equipment effectiveness for Sailun Group.

On March 22, OOIL announced a profit attributable to equity holders of US$9,965.2 million for 2022, compared to a profit of US$7,128.1 million in 2021.
OOCL achieved the top performance tier, named Sapphire, in the 2022 Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) Program. The program required vessels to slow down the speed in the two designated VSR zones (Southern California and San Francisco Bay) in California, aiming to reduce air pollution, fatal ship strikes on whales and underwater noise.
OOCL entered a collaboration with COSCO SHIPPING Lines, Global Shipping Business Network (GSBN) and Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry Testing Co., Ltd (SICIT) to improve the safe transportation of chemical cargo by harnessing blockchain technology. The four companies together with Midea have leveraged blockchain technology to achieve industry first proof-of-concept for the sharing of Safe Transportation Certification.

OOCL is delighted to introduce the first 24,188 TEU mega vessel to its fleet. The new vessel was officially named “OOCL Spain” at a ceremony held on February 16 at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) shipyard in Nantong, China. Capable of carrying up to 24,188 TEUs, this scale makes her not only the first of OOCL’s vessels to exceed the 24,000 TEU threshold, but also places her among the very largest container ships in the world. OOCL invited Ms. LIU Xuewen, Vice President of LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. to name the vessel. OOCL will deploy the vessel to her Asia-Europe route.

OOCL announced the introduction of OOCL Account, an integrated account allowing customers to access My OOCL Center (MOC) and other OOCL online services, as well as applications such as Global Cargo Release (GBCR) and FreightSmart. OOCL Account will enable customers to manage their accounts in one place, managing shipments will become easier and more efficient than ever before.
