December

  • OOCL is pleased to announce a new service providing direct links between China, Pakistan and India. The new service, to be launched on 17 January 2008, is named the "China Pakistan Express" (CPX).
October

  • OOCL is proud to announce on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 the christening of OOCL Houston, its third in the line of sixteen 4,578-TEU vessels, ordered with Samsung Heavy Industries since 2004.

August

  • OOIL Group today announced a profit attributable to shareholders of US$2,216.3 million for the first six months of 2007 compared with US$280.5 million earned during the first half of 2006.
  • The member lines of the Grand Alliance are continuing their successful cooperation, and today Adolf Adrion, Executive Board member of Hapag-Lloyd AG, Niels Kim Balling, Vice-President of Liner Business, MISC Berhad, Minoru Sato, Representative Director and Executive Vice-President of NYK, and Philip Chow, Chief Executive Officer of OOCL, have signed an agreement extending their cooperation up to 2017.

  • OOCL always embraces “Community Responsibility” as one of its core values and will take every opportunity to practice good citizenship in the communities in which it operates.  Recently, OOCL has demonstrated this commitment by sponsoring all the transportation facilities and assisting in all the customs clearance for moving a water filtration unit from Charleston (USA) to Tuticorin (India) in order to provide sustainable safe drinking water to students of a school in Tamil Nadu, India and its surrounding area.
  • OOCL is pleased to announce the establishment of our new office in Karachi, Pakistan, effective today July 23, 2007). The opening of the new office follows the completion and termination of its current agent, Yaaseen Shipping Lines, on July 22, 2007.
  • The first of the sixteen 4,578-TEU vessel built by Samsung Heavy Industries for OOCL, OOCL Kobe, was named on July 20, 2007 (Friday) at the Port of Kobe in Japan, after the christening of its sister vessel, OOCL Yokohama in Korea on the day before.
  • OOCL is proud to announce on Thursday, July 19, 2007 the christening of OOCL Yokohama, its second in line of the sixteen 4,578-TEU vessels, ordered with Samsung Heavy Industries since 2004.
  • Grand Alliance members of Transpacific Trade - Hapag-Lloyd, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) announced today to restructure and upgrade the Central China Express Service (CCX).

June 

  • OOCL is proud to announce on 29th June, 07 (Friday) christening of OOCL Italy, its eighth 5,888-TEU vessel. It is the last of the eight S-Class series built by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, Japan.
  • OOIL is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ken Cambie as an Executive Director with effect from 1st. August 2007, subject to any regulatory approvals. Mr. Cambie will assume the responsibilities of Chief Financial Officer as of August 13th, 2007.
  • OOCL today announced the appointment of Vestamar gemi acenteligi ve ticaret as its new Agent in Turkey, effective 1st July 2007. Vestamar has offices in Istanbul and Izmir.

May

  • OOCL is proud to announce the Monday, May 28th christening of the sixth of its twelve 8,063-TEU vessels, OOCL Southampton, ordered from and built by Samsung Heavy Industries.
  • Grand Alliance is adjusting its service between the Mediterranean and Asia (EUM) in response to the increasing cargo volume.
  • OOCL is proud to announce the Thursday, May 24th christening of the seventh of its eight 5,888-TEU vessels, OOCL Oakland, built by the Imabari Shipbuilding Group.
  • The Grand Alliance members HPL, NYK and OOCL are adjusting their service concept on the Trans Pacific during the main season in summer to meet customer requirements even more effectively.
  • OOCL Logistics is pleased to announce the launch of its improved and upgraded website at www.oocllogistics.com effective 08 May 2007. Our new sites offer a clean and contemporary design in addition to several new features.
  • In 2007 the Agriculture Transportation Coalition performed an Ocean Carrier Documentation Performance Survey of 21 ocean container lines, ranking OOCL among the Top Five carriers.
April

  • OOCL was the proud winner of the 2006 Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association's Central region's Forwarder's Choice Awards for Outstanding Ocean Service and Commitment between Toronto and the Far East. The prestigious award was presented to OOCL by Mr. Tony Young of LCL Navigation Canada Ltd, Executive Director of CIFFA. This is the second consecutive year for OOCL's Central Division to win this award.
  • OOCL is pleased to announce that a new China-India Express Service (CIX), jointly operated with APL, will be launched with the first sailing from Xingang on May 13, an enhancement of existing NSS feeder service. OOCL will contribute two of the five 2000-2500 TEU vessels on the service.
  • OOCL announced its Black Sea agents on March 30th, 2007. These include: Via Multima Ltd in Odessa, Ukraine; Medtainer Ro Srl in Constanta, Romania; and Via Multima Bulgaria Ltd in Varna, Bulgaria.

  • OOCL is proud to announce the Wednesday, March 28th christening of OOCL Kuala Lumpur, the sixth of its eight 5,888-TEU vessels, built by the Imabari Shipbuilding Group.
  • Members of the Grand Alliance group Hapag-Lloyd, MISC Berhad (MISC), Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) will be launching a new weekly service – ABX (Asia – Black Sea Express) to cover the Asia-Black Sea Market.
  • OOIL today announced a net profit of US$581.1 million for the year ended 31st December 2006, a decrease of 11% from the net profit of US$651.3 million recorded in 2005.
  • Effective on 5 March 2007, OOCL customers can track their cargo online directly, at www.oocl.com.

February

  • OOCL celebrated the christening and delivery of the 5,888-TEU, S-Class m.v. OOCL Seattle on February 14, 2007.


January

  • OOCL is proud to announce that in January 2007, it achieved a compliance rate of 100% for the Voluntary Vessel Speed Reduction program with the Port of Long Beach’s Green Flag Incentive Program for the year of 2006.
  • OOIL announced that it has completed the sale of three of the four terminals within the Terminals Division to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board. These terminals are Deltaport and Vanterm terminals in the Port of Vancouver and Global Terminal in Bayonne, New Jersey in the Port of New York and New Jersey.
  • OOCL is proud to announce Monday, January 8th, the christening of its 11th SX-Class 8,086-TEU vessel, OOCL Tokyo, built by the Samsung Heavy Industries Co. Ltd
