OOCL was honored with the ‘Award for Operational Excellence 2011’ by one of our major customers in the United States, the Scoular Company, which is one of the largest exporters of grain and agricultural products in the United States.
Members of The New World and Grand alliances had agreed to create one of the largest vessel networks, known as "The G6 Alliance" in the Far East-to-Europe trade lane. New World Alliance members are APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine, and Mitsui O.S.K Lines. Grand Alliance members are Hapag-Lloyd AG, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Orient Overseas Container Line.
OOCL was in the forefront of embracing new technology as the first ocean carrier to have successfully migrated to the new Automated Commercial Environment (ACE-M1) e-Manifest system deployed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
OOCL was to introduce the New Zealand – Northeast Asia Express (NZN), a new fixed-day weekly service that would broaden our market coverage and provide more efficient and high quality services to customers starting on December 24, 2011.

OOCL had been awarded the ‘Ship Operator of the Year’ at the Lloyd’s List Awards, Asia 2011 presentation ceremony held on October 26, 2011 in Hong Kong, China.
On October 11, 2011, in the City of Long Beach, California, USA, a groundbreaking ceremony was held to celebrate the construction of Baker Park where OOCL was recognized for its contribution to the local community through this project.

OOCL and Freightliner Limited announced the renewal of their ten-year contract as part of their commitment to the strategic cooperative partnership in providing the best inter-modal solutions to OOCL customers into the next decade.
OOCL announced that two Super-PostPanamax gantry cranes would be installed at OOCL Kaohsiung Container Terminal (KAOCT) in Kaohsiung Port, Taiwan, China.

OOIL and its subsidiaries announced a profit after tax and non-controlling interest attributable to equity holders of US$175.0 million for the six month period ended 30th June 2011.
OOCL's online schedule tools had been ranked as being the best in the industry according to a research carried out by SeaIntel Maritime Analysis (SeaIntel), published in July 2011.
OOCL celebrated the christening of OOCL Canada, an 8,888 TEU vessel today (July 6, 2011), at a naming ceremony held on the new Changxing Island shipyard of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. in Shanghai, China.
OOCL had been awarded the “Top Ranked Carrier 2011” in the Annual Ocean Carrier Performance Survey conducted by the Agricultural Transportation Coalition, a leading and influential association formed by agriculture and forest products exporters, importers and freight forwarders in the United States.
The shipbuilder of our 8,888 TEU vessel, OOCL Beijing, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. has won the “Shanghai Municipality’s First Class Award for Science and Technology Advancement”. OOCL Beijing, by far, was the largest container vessel designed and constructed using advanced and innovative technologies solely developed in China.
OOCL had entered into agreement with NYK to charter out four of its ten 13,000-teu vessels on order to them for a period of three years. The first charter ship will be delivered to NYK in 2013. Both parties intend to deploy these ten ships within the Grand Alliance service network to allow for a service upgrade.
OOCL announced the upgrading of their existing SBX service by deploying additional vessels in both SBX1 and SBX2. The overall capacity increase across our entire SBX network would be 20%. The increase in capacity and additional port coverage continues to show OOCL’s commitment to the growing Baltic markets and our customer requirements.
OOCL announced the naming ceremony of OOCL Beijing was held at Wharf No. 7 of Hudong –Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. (HZ) in Shanghai, China. OOCL Beijing was the first of the eight 8,888-TEU vessels on order from HZ.
OOCL signed a contract with Samsung Heavy Industries for the construction of six 13,000-TEU vessels. This marked the first newbuilding order OOCL has ever placed for mega container vessels of this size.
Orient Overseas (International) Limited and its subsidiaries announced a profit attributable to shareholders for 2010 of US$1,866.8 million, compared to a loss of US$402.3 million reported for 2009.
OOCL has demonstrated its industry leadership in innovative IT solutions with the launch of OOCL Lite iPhone App (OOCL Lite) which allowed users to access real time sailing schedule of vessels any time, anywhere at their finger tips on iPhone.
To enhance customers’ convenience, OOCL had introduced “Empty Pickup Appointment (EPA)” service since October 2010 in Hong Kong. This service was the first of its kind in the shipping industry. Customers could make appointments prior to empty container pickup by simply calling our hotline number.
