December

OOCL won several of the Lloyd’s List Australia Shipping and Maritime Industry Awards, namely the Liner Trade Award for Australia – North East Asia and the Environmental Transport Award. We were also highly commended in the category of Liner Trade for Australia – Europe.


October

The partners of the G6 Alliance would underline their commitment to the Scandinavian market and start a dedicated G6 feeder shuttle in November from Germany to Gothenburg in Sweden.


September

OOCL introduced a new service to the Intra-Europe network, the Scan Baltic Express 3 (SBX3), as part of our existing SBX suite. The SBX3 was an additional service for the Baltic network which complements our existing service offering a comprehensive coverage between Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, Finland and Sweden.

OOCL introduced a new service to the Intra-Asia network, the KTX5 , as part of our existing KTX Suite. The KTX5 provided a comprehensive supplement to our service network in the KTX Suite by covering Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xiamen and Japan.

June

OOCL was recognized as a top carrier in the Annual Survey conducted by the Agriculture Transportation Coalition 2012.

OOIL announced the launch of our first annual Sustainability Report, signifying an important milestone in our sustainable development agenda and demonstrating our long-term commitment to corporate sustainability, transparency and accountability.

OOCL had successfully received certification on the accuracy and transparency of its environmental data disclosure after an audit was conducted by the American Bureau of Shipping Consulting (ABS),  using the internationally recognized and accepted Clean Cargo Working Group (CCWG) verification standard.  ABS also verified the accuracy of OOCL's Carbon Calculator, a comprehensive online tool used by OOCL customers to track carbon footprint levels in their supply chains.

April

OOCL announced that Mr. Andy Tung, currently the Chief Operating Officer of OOCL, will succeed Mr. Philip Chow, as the new Chief Executive Officer of the company effective July 1, 2012.

OOCL and the Port of Long Beach held a signing ceremony for a 40 year container terminal lease with The Port of Long Beach (POLB) in Hong Kong.

March

OOCL announced the grand opening of OOCL Logistics Warehouse (Shanghai) Ltd. (OWSL) at the Lingang Logisitics Park in Shanghai on March 7, 2012.

With the mission to promote maritime education and supporting the role that Chinese seafarers play in the world’s maritime transportation and logistics industry, OOCL announced the grand opening of the OOCL Maritime Academy and the International Seaman Training Centre in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, China.

February

OOCL announced a new China-Bangkok Service (CBS) to further extend our service network between China, Thailand, and Vietnam for our customers.

Members of the G6 Alliance announced their groundbreaking cooperation in Asia-Europe container shipping would begin operation in the first week of March – one month ahead of schedule.

With our long history of support in education, OOCL was to sponsor the Books for Asia program, distributing over 400,000 new books to students in need from 18 developing countries across Asia.
