Please be advised that with effect January 1, 2010, the "Gulf of Aden Surcharge" or 'GAS' will be revised to USD43/TEU for traffic between the whole of Asia and Europe (both bounds).
This is to continue to cover the ongoing costs of operating within the Gulf of Aden sea lanes and providing safe passage of all cargo, crew, and vessels under the constant threat of piracy still present within the region.

With the possibility of postal strikes looming, customers are encouraged to take advantage of the online Bill of Lading and Invoice printing facilities available via our 'My OOCL Center' product.
The key benefit of online B/L print is that customers can print their B/L in their own office, the day of vessel sailing. This eliminates the possibility of the documentation being delayed in the post.

As we are all aware, the cost of fuel has continued to rise over the last few months. Whilst we have been able to maintain our fuel surcharge at 11% since August we now have no alternative other than to implement a further small adjustment to 13%.

We would like to update you on Monday's gantry crane collapse involving the NYK Themis at DP World Southampton.
First and foremost we understand that the crane driver, who suffered injuries, is in a serious but stable condition, and our thoughts are with him.

On July 13th , at at DP World Southampton, the gantry crane #6 collapsed in the early hours of the morning onto the NYK Themis while she was loading export cargo. As a result, all shipside and landside operations were suspended to allow the emergency services access to the scene of the accident.

This surcharge applies to all carrier haulage within the UK, unless otherwise stated in the rate agreement or service contract that covers the shipment concerned.

The official enforcement date for the new regulations is January 1, 2009, but a grace period, covering the initial 3 – 6 months without associated penalties, has been verbally confirmed by China Customs Authorities.
